RetroRealms Logo

This is the last iteration of the chosen version also with the final name. Chosen because it was the most playful and looked great in neon. RetroRealms logo is meant to evoke a nostalgia for vintage arcade games.

Alternate choice: Spookier

This version wasn’t chosen but was my personal favorite. It was passed over in favor of a more arcade-like style.

This version was chosen and was passed over in favor of a rounder more playful version.

  • Boss Team Games sought to create a new logo for their upcoming project, RetroRealms. The goal was to capture the nostalgic essence of classic arcade games while establishing a distinct and modern brand identity for the new game.

  • As the designer, I was responsible for conceptualizing and creating the RetroRealms logo. This involved translating the retro arcade theme into a visual identity that would resonate with both nostalgic gamers and a new audience

  • Balancing Nostalgia and Modernity: The primary challenge was to evoke the vintage arcade feel without making the design look outdated or irrelevant in today's gaming market.

    Versatility: The logo needed to work across various platforms and mediums, from digital game interfaces to physical merchandise

  • Research and Inspiration: I began by researching vintage arcade cabinets and gaming brands, focusing on iconic elements such as bold typography, vibrant colors, and geometric shapes. This research helped identify key visual components that could be modernized.

    Concept Development: I sketched multiple logo concepts, incorporating classic arcade motifs and horror inspiration. I aimed to blend these elements with a fun, contemporary style to create a visually striking design.

    Iterative Design Process: After presenting initial concepts, I gathered feedback and refined the designs, scaling back horror inspiration and typography to better align with the brand’s vision.

    Final Design: The chosen logo featured a dynamic mix of retro fonts, reminiscent of arcade games but with a fresh, modern twist. I ensured the design was versatile and scalable, maintaining its impact across different applications.
